I hate it when people die in the books in some specifically nasty way... it just ensures show death. I will not tolerate anything happening to my Knight of Flowers. Seriously, what does this show have against gay/bi males that they are all killed in some horrific fashion. -_- My Knight better get a get-out-of-book-canon-free card.

Decent finale all round. Covered a lot of territory and set up next season nicely. Poor Dragons

Apparently it was missing one huge moment that everyone was hanging for, so I looked it up. Yeah, that would have been pretty intense on top of everything else that happened!!

Agreed. They can't just kill off every good character. They have to keep someone good around for perspective, at least.

Hah yes he can.
This season took a dive. They are straying too much from the books and adding in bullshit shock tactics now that they are running out of source material and GRRM is no longer writing for the show.

I am totally fine with the show not being the same as the books. The season was pretty dull for a while but I think the last few episodes were OK.
As for the Jon Snow thing, character-wise it was not smart for the Night's Watch to do that. The Wildlings were pretty much only agreeing to help them because of Snow. Without him, there's nothing that will keep them siding with the NW and they probably won't just go away quietly ...

Differences are cool, Tyrion meeting up with Dany already was a good choice but some of it has been stupid and for nothing more than shock that isn't needed.
That is how the last book ends. If Jon Snow is truly dead that is poor writing, there is too much remaining story to reveal with him. I don't believe he will be dead.

If for no other reason than it stops the smug book readers (like this tool on the folders) from being annoying know it all asshats! I just don't want JS going anywhere. I like him. And I like looking at Kit

Same, Loz. And yeah, the more theories I read online, the more I doubt he's really dead. There are so many ways to revive him. What do you think of Sansa/Theon? Are we supposed to think the thick snow would soften their fall?

Yeah. I have hope from stuff I've been reading. I assume we are meant to assume the snow will break their fall, but it was a bloody long drop. They surely can't come out totally unscathed

I haven't watched the past two seasons yet but I know a lot of people have been unhappy with this one, and some of the last one too. The two things I've heard the most about are Jamie's rape of Cersei, which is consensual in the book, which backtracks Jamie's character development and then there are no consequences of it later, it is ignored.
Sansa's rape, also doesn't happen in the books and from what I've heard puts the camera on Reek making it as much about him as Sansa. She doesn't even marry Ramsay in the books, that is someone else.
Daenarys' rape in season 1 is also mentioned a lot, since again it was consensual in the books. Haven't heard any other complaints about changes though, and those ones are more about people feeling the show is putting in too much rape and violence without reason than about things being different. The only reason I've heard much about those ones is because of the media and how many people have complained on facebook and twitter. I think it is inevitable that a show will deviate from books they are based on, otherwise it is too predictable. Look at True Blood, past season 1 they are nothing like the books! What other changes are book fans upset about??
